Cesenatico - Madonna di Pugliano (Km. 108)

The right itinerary for those who are seeking some peace and quiet in the countryside without much effort.

This route is 108 km long, from the fresh air of the sea until the nice Marecchia valley (Valmarecchia), through an enchanted nature and timeless villages.

Starting from Cesenatico to Sala, then Savignano, known for the Roman bridge and Julius Caesar. Once here, we recommend a stop at Castle Ribano, where you can taste wines among the most valuable of Romagna. Forward to Canonica way to Verucchio; you’ll feel the hectic city life fading more and more. You have finally arrived in Valmarecchia, a land whose soul is almost wild with a medieval heritage.

After leaving the route Marecchiese, you’ll start the hardest part of your route, going up to the fortress of San Leo. At the top, you must visit of the impregnable castle. Forward to Pugliano on a flat stretch; then you’ll climb up to Madonna di Pugliano. From here a steep drop between 13% and 17% leads to Ponte Baffoni and then to Novafeltria, one of the biggest communities of Montefeltro. Now let’s follow the route Marecchiese slightly downhill to Ponte Verucchio and forward to Santarcangelo, one of the most beautiful villages of the Romagna. The tour ends back in Cesenatico, which hosts the Spazio Pantani, a museum dedicated to the great champion of Romagna; definitely a must for all cycling fans.
